Bahrain 'the best place to live and invest in'

MANAMA: Bahrain has been named one of the world's best places to do business - and to live. It ranks as the 18th easiest country worldwide to do business and fourth in the top 10 choices of Britons looking to settle abroad.

A key attraction for Britons looking for homes in the sun is Riffa Views, the luxury golfing community development, which is pulling interest away from Dubai, according to The Sun newspaper.

Bahrain is the only Middle East country to feature on the list.

It also ranks high in the Doing Business 2009 report, produced by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation. It ranks Bahrain 18th out of 181 economies and Saudi Arabia 16th - making them the only GCC countries to feature in the top 25.

The report bases its findings on a wide range of factors, such as proximity to large markets, security, infrastructure quality, transparency of government procurement, ease of starting businesses, recruiting and protection for investors.
